St. Joseph is pictured holding the child Jesus in his arms with the hills and trees of Nazareth shown in relief in the background. St. Joseph also holds white lilies, the symbol of his chastity. The prayer to St. Joseph on the plaque asks for his protection and guardianship- the same care and love he showed as the chaste spouse to Mary and the foster-father of Jesus.
